Body of murdered politician returned to Pakistan
The body of a slain Pakistani politician arrived in the port city of Karachi from Britain on Saturday amid tight security almost two months after he was killed outside his London home.
Imran Farooq, a founding member of Pakistan's Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) -- a major political force in Karachi -- was found with head injuries and stab wounds outside his home in north London on September 16. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The body has arrived from London by a Pakistan International Airlines flight," senior MQM leader and federal lawmaker Haider Rizvi told AFP.
He said that Farooq's wife, mother and father were accompanying the body, which would be buried in MQM's graveyard on Saturday afternoon.
MQM leaders wrapped the coffin in a party flag.
Governor of Sindh province Sindh Ishratul Ibaad, other MQM leaders and interior minister Rehman Malik of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) entered the aircraft to receive Farooq's family.
