BSkyB welcomes EU green light for NewsCorp takeover
BSkyB on Tuesday welcomed news that European regulators had cleared News Corporation's 12.0-billion-dollar (9.1-billion-euro) takeover bid for the British pay-TV giant.
"BSkyB notes that the European Commission has concluded its review of News Corporation's proposal to acquire the shares in BSkyB that it does not already own," the London-listed group said in a statement.
"BSkyB welcomes the European Commission's decision to approve the proposal without a further phase two review. BSkyB continues to co-operate with the UK regulatory process."
Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation has bid 7.8 billion pounds for the 61 percent of the Sky News broadcaster that it does not already own.
The deal remains subject to a British regulatory review that is due to report next week.
