National and public holidays 2016 in the UK

This list includes important dates throughout the United Kingdom, including UK bank holidays, school holidays, daylight savings and Mother's and Father's Days.

If you're living in the UK, it's important to note that public holidays are slightly different in Scotland compared to England and Wales. Additionally, Northern Ireland has the same eight public holidays as England and Wales plus two more: St Patrick's Day and the Anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.

If a bank holiday in the UK occurs on a weekend, the next weekday (often a Monday) usually becomes a substitute day bank holiday.
