Volcanic ash reaches northern Africa

Ash from the ongoing volcanic eruption in Iceland has reached the African continent, shutting airports in Morocco, and cancelling some flights in Spain and Turkey. Trans-Atlantic flights have been restricted. The Eyjafjallajokull volcano woke up in March after being dormant for nearly two centuries. Volcanic ash can cause aircraft engine failure.
