Two people were killed and five wounded on Saturday when a group of unidentified gunmen opened fire on a market in the city of Samara in central Russia, investigators said.

The gunmen arrived in three cars at the market on the outskirts of the city, the spokeswoman for the local investigative committee Yelena Shkayeva told the Interfax news agency.

A source in the security forces told Interfax that one of the main theories over the shooting was a local dispute over rights to rent land at the market, which sells clothes and food.
