Two hectare peat fire burning 60 km from Chernobyl: official
A two hectare peat bog fire is burning 60 kilometres south of Chernobyl, the site of the world's worst nuclear disaster, but the situation poses no danger, a Ukrainian official said Thursday.
The fire started on August 9 and will be extinguished on Thursday or Friday, said Viktoria Ruban, spokeswoman for the Ukrainian emergency situations ministry.
"The fire presents no danger. There is no threat," she added.
