Two dead after oil platform sinks in Russian East: official
At least two people died in freezing waters after an oil platform in Russia's Far Eastern Okhotsk sea turned over Sunday, the regional emergency ministry said.
The Kolskoye oil platform was 200 meters (yards) from the shore when the accident occurred at 0145 GMT amid high winds and temperatures of -17 Celsius.
Fourteen people were rescued and two bodies were found by 0530 GMT, Interfax news agency quoted a local official as saying. The platform was fully submerged.
The crew had two rescue boats, but emergency workers found them empty, the head of the regional emergency ministry told Interfax.
