Theatre head dies after robbery in Russia's second city

The head of a theatre in Russia's second city Saint Petersburg died after being badly beaten by robbers, investigators said on Friday.

Leonid Sats, the 72-year-old head of the Saint Petersburg Comedy Theatre, was hospitalised after being beaten and robbed early this month, regional investigators said, adding Sats died of his injuries on Thursday.

Founded in 1929, the Akimov Comedy Theatre is one of the most popular theatres in a city known for its vibrant cultural life.
