Russian skinheads jailed for racist murders
A Moscow court jailed on Thursday four skinheads guilty of two racist murders and a series of other attacks, the Interfax news agency reported.
The Russian men are members of a group known as the "White Legion" based in Dzerjinski on the oukirts of the capital, whose aim is to commit aggression against non-Slavic citizens.
"The court imposed sentences ranging from five to 22 years, a legal representative told the agency, without giving further details.
The men murdered a 21-year-old student originally from Uzbekistan in February 2008, stabbing him several times and shooting him twice, according to the charge sheet.
In August 2009 they beat up and knifed 50-year-old native of Azerbaijan who died from his injuries.
At the end of the same year, the group injured three people in racist attacks.
Racism has become more prevalent in Russia since the fall of the USSR as nationalists gain increasing support, according to a report published by the Russian research body Sova earlier this year.
