Russian rebel wants Arab revolts to spread Islamic rule
Russia's most wanted Islamist rebel Doku Umarov called on Muslims to profit from the revolutions shaking the Arab world to spread Islamic rule across the globe, in a video posted Friday.
"We pray that these events are carried out in the name of Allah, to put his laws in place in the entire world," the Chechen militant said in a video posted on the Hunafa.com militant website.
The video showed Umarov wearing camouflage clothing in a forested area. However the sound of the wind made much of the five minute video inaudible.
In another video broadcast the day earlier, Umarov had urged Russian Muslims living outside the Northern Caucasus region to join what he called a "total war" against federal forces.
Umarov, whose Caucasus Emirate group aims to impose Islamic rule throughout the Northern Caucasus, has claimed responsibility for the Moscow airport attack in January that killed 37 and the 2010 metro attacks that killed 40.
