Russian industrial production jumps 7.0 percent

Russian industrial production jumped 7.0 percent in August compared with a year earlier, picking up from 5.9 percent in July, the federal statistics office Rosstat reported Wednesday.

Output growth however was down from 9.7 percent in June and 12.6 percent in May.

Compared with July this year, output was up 0.1 percent.

Production rose 9.2 percent from January to August compared with the same period of 2009, the data showed.
