Russian economy grows official 4.8% in third quarter
The Russian economy grew by 4.8 percent in the third quarter from output in the same period last year, the state statistics office said on Monday in a preliminary estimate.
The robust figure showed the relative strength of the Russian economy compared to some eurozone economies but was lower than the ministry of economic development's prediction of 5.1-percent growth.
Russian GDP growth was 3.4 percent in the second quarter compared with the same period in 2010. The government has predicted growth of 4.1 percent for 2011 as a whole.
