Russian conductor facing sex charges leaves Thailand
Famed Russian conductor Mikhail Pletnev, charged in Thailand with raping a 14-year-old boy, has left the country and is believed to be heading to Moscow, an airline official said Thursday.
"He was booked on (flight) EK419 which departed Bangkok at 2:40 am (1940 GMT Wednesday) for Dubai and the ticket was already used," said a spokeswoman for Dubai carrier Emirates.
"The passenger will connect with flight EK133 for Moscow," she said.
Pletnev, artistic director of the acclaimed Russian National Orchestra, was granted permission Wednesday to leave the country temporarily but is required to report back to the court every 12 days.
An immigration official who asked not to be named confirmed that Pletnev had left the country.
