Russian chopper reported captured in Sudan safe: operators
A Russian helicopter working for the UN-African Union force in Sudan that had been reported as captured by rebels has returned safely to base, the company operating it said Tuesday.
The helicopter landed safely with its crew at its permanent base at Nyala city in Darfur, western Sudan, said a statement from the Russian company UTair.
Earlier Tuesday, the UN-African Union peacekeeping force in Darfur had to deny claims from the Russian foreign ministry that Sudanese rebels had seized the aircraft.
