Russian WW II veteran loses case in Strasbourg

A Russian WW II veteran, Vasily Kononov, 87, has lost his case against Latvia in the upper chamber of the European Court of Human Rights. In 1998, Kononov, who used to lead a Soviet guerilla squad during WW II, was accused of participating in the killings of Latvian civilians during the war and was arrested.
