Russia ready to help douse Japan atomic plant: official
Moscow is ready to help Japan prevent a release of radiation at its earthquake-stricken nuclear power plant, Russia's foreign ministry said Thursday.
"We reiterate our readiness to provide any additional assistance to the Japanese side in eliminating the consequences of this accident, including in putting out the fires occurring at the nuclear power plant," Interfax quoted spokesman Alexander Lukashevich as saying.
He did not give details on the nature of the help.
The Japanese military on Thursday used trucks and helicopters to dump tonnes of water onto the quake-hit Fukushima nuclear plant in a bid to douse fuel rods and prevent a disastrous radiation release.
