Russia nominates Karpov for FIDE presidency

Anatoly Karpov has been nominated as a candidate for the post of president of the World Chess Federation FIDE. His candidacy was approved by majority vote at a meeting of the Supervisory board of Russia’s Chess Federation. Since 1995 FIDE has been headed by the President of Kalmykia, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.
