Russia kills organiser of Moscow metro attacks: reports
Russian security forces Saturday killed several militants in a clash in the Caucasus, possibly including a suspected mastermind of the March suicide bombings on the Moscow metro, reports said.
The RIA Novosti news agency quoted a security source as saying that Magomedali Vagabov, a leading militant sought for months by the authorities over the Moscow attacks, had been killed in the special operation in Dagestan.
The Interfax news agency said that the raid, around the village of Gunib in the mountains of Dagestan, had killed five militants and they could include Vagabov. There was no official confirmation of the reports.
The double bombings carried out by female suicide bombers on the Moscow metro on March 29 killed 40 and wounded more than 100.
According to some reports, Vagabov was the husband of Mariam Sharipova, one of the suicide bombers, although this has not been officially confirmed.
