Russia on Thursday detained three suspects over a suicide bombing that killed at least 16 people at a market in the Russian Caucasus, the head of the Russian Security Service told news agencies.

"Three have been detained on suspicion of carrying out this terrorist act. At the moment I can only give this information," Alexander Bortnikov, the director of the FSB security service, told the RIA Novosti news agency.

A suicide car bomber killed at least 16 people and injured more than 100 Thursday at a market in the town of Vladikavkaz in the deadliest militant strike for months in the troubled region.
