Russia bids to acquire Varyag memorabilia

Russia has approached South Korea for a deal to acquire artifacts from the Russian cruiser Varyag and the Russian gunboat Koreyets that perished in the Russo-Japanese War. Both went down in February 1904 near Chemulpo, now Incheon, on the coast of the Yellow Sea after a fierce battle with a superior Japanese naval force.
