Russia bans food imports from four Japan regions
Russia has banned food imports from four Japanese regions amid concerns about radiation from the quake-damaged Fukushima nuclear plant, the head of its consumer protection agency said Thursday.
"We have given orders to fully ban the use of food products which have been brought into Russia after March 11 from Fukushima, Ibaraki, Tochigi and Gunma," Gennady Onishchenko told the Interfax news agency.
He was quoted as saying that the foods from these four provinces would now be stopped at the border even without radiation checks.
