Russia, Poland approve gas accord extension: Gazprom
Russia and Poland have reached agreement extending the delivery of Russian gas to Poland until 2022 and the transit of Russian gas across Polish territory to Europe until 2019, gas giant Gazprom said Monday.
Russia is to gradually increase gas shipments to Poland from 9.7 billion cubic meters this year to 11 billion in 2012, a volume that should remain unchanged in subsequent years, the Russian group said in a statement carried by news agencies.
Gazprom and Polish counterpart PGNiG in January reached a long-term deal covering the delivery and transit of gas. But it has yet to be approved by the Polish government, which is awaiting a ruling from the European Union on its conformity with EU legislation.
The accord calls for extending to 2045 the shipment of Russian gas to western Europe through the Iamal-Europe pipeline, which passes through Polish territory.
