Relatives to visit Polish air crash site in Russia
Six months after the crash of a Polish presidential jet in which president Lech Kaczynski and all 95 other passengers died, victims' relatives will visit the disaster site in Russia, a statement said on Tuesday.
"The families of the victims and First Lady Anna Komorowska will participate in an ecumenical mass at the site of the catastrophy," a statement from Poland's presidential chancellery said. The visit would take place on October 10.
Warsaw is waiting for the findings of an Russian investigation into the cause of the April 10 crash in thick fog of the Russian-made Tupolev 154 Polish presidential jet near an airport in Smolensk, western Russia.
Poland has also become increasingly critical of how Russian authorities are storing the jet's wreckage at the Smolensk airport. Last week Polish justice minister Krzysztof Kwiatkowski urged Moscow to send the crash debris to Poland as soon as possible.
