Poland on Monday detained former Russian prosecutor Alexander Ignatenko wanted by Moscow for his alleged involvement in a network of illegal casinos, Poland's commercial Radio RMF FM reported.

Poland's ABW domestic intelligence agency, which the radio reported as having made the arrest, refused comment on Monday when contacted by AFP.

Ignatenko was taken into custody on a road leading to Poland's southern Tatra mountain Zakopane resort where he was to meet his wife and child, according to RMF.

He was in possession of a Lithuanian passport, it said.
