Plane carrying Russian tourists leaves Tunisia: airline
A plane carrying 240 Russian tourists took off Sunday from the Tunisian tourist resort of Monastir bound for Moscow, the Russian airline Transaero told local media.
The Monastir-Moscow flight, which took off at 17H04 GMT, had a capacity for 235 passengers but five children were not assigned seats, company spokesman Serguei Bykhal told Interfax news agency.
A Russian embassy spokesman in Tunisia told Moscow radio that 700 Russian citizens remained in the country, where a popular revolt ousted authoritarian president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali who fled to Saudi Arabia Fridayk.
The composition of a new Tunisian government is expected to be announced on Monday and will not include any parties close to the disgraced former president, an opposition leader said Sunday.
