Nobel-winning writer Jose Saramago dies

Portuguese writer Jose Saramago, the winner of the Nobel Literature prize, died aged 87 after a long illness. Saramago was born in 1922 in a provincial town near Lisbon, and then moved to the capital with his family. He never finished university due to poor financial state of his family.
