Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will make the opening address at the annual forum of the world's political and business elites in the Swiss ski resort of Davos, the event's organiser said Friday.

According to a programme issued by the World Economic Forum, Medvedev will speak on January 26, although the topic was not specified.

Other leaders invited to the five-day meeting include Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou and his Spanish counterpart Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.

Sessions scheduled at the forum include discussions on the eurozone crisis, the global economic outlook and key conflict flashpoints.

The annual meeting in the Swiss mountains started four decades ago, and aims to bring leaders together to discuss the most pressing issues facing the world.
