Medvedev orders Gazprom to prepare to limit Belarus gas flow
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has told the head of gas giant Gazprom to prepare to reduce gas supplies to neighbor Belarus by 85 percent from 0600 GMT, Russian news agencies reported Monday.
"Begin an appropriate procedure," Medvedev was quoted as saying at a meeting with Gazprom's Alexei Miller at his residence outside Moscow after Miller told the Kremlin chief Belarus had failed to settle an outstanding gas gebt.
Russian gas giant Gazprom said last week Belarus owed it 192 million dollars (155 million euros) in unpaid debts and gas exports would be reduced
by 85 percent from 0600 GMT on Monday if the debt was not settled until then.
