Massive Attack in Moscow show to promote long-awaited album
British trip-hop pioneers Massive Attack will play a concert in Moscow Friday night to promote their long-awaited new album, Heligoland, released in February seven years after their last recording.
The concert, part of the group's world tour, will also feature British soul singer Martina Topley-Bird. Known for her work with trip-hop artist Tricky, Topley-Bird contributed vocals to several songs on Massive Attack's new album.
Fifteen giant screens will be used to relay the group's performance during the concert, Svetlana Podenok, a spokeswoman for concert organisers A1 music television channel, told AFP.
Founded in 1988, Massive Attack is known for its experimental electronic music style, blending jazz, rock, hip-hop and even classical music.
The group's music has appeared on soundtracks for films including The Matrix, Blade II and Moulin Rouge, as well as on US television series House.
