Levitan and Chekhov: masters of simple motives

An art exhibition dedicated to the creative work of a prolific Russian landscape painter Isaac Levitan has opened in the St.Petersburg Russian Museum, reports our correspondent Yelena Andrusenko. Many have repeatedly likened Levitan’s paintings to the short stories by noted Russian writer Anton Chekhov, who was internationally acknowledged for his unique literary technique.
