Kazakhstan unseals border with Kyrgyzstan

Kazakhstan is reopening its border with Kyrgyzstan. Freight, passenger and transit traffic will resume on Thursday. The border was shut in April due to mass in unrest in Kyrgyzstan, which resulted in a coup. Meanwhile, the country’s trade turnover has plummeted by more than 50% since April, causing severe food shortages.
