Israel's Barak to make 24-hour visit to Russia
Israel's Defence Minister Ehud Barak was to travel to Moscow late on Sunday for a brief visit to hold talks with senior Russian officials, his office said.
"Mr Barak will leave from Tel Aviv Sunday night for a 24-hour working visit in Russia," spokesman Barak Seri told AFP.
A separate defence ministry statement said Barak would meet Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov for talks "focusing on strategic and defence issues of mutual interest."
Israeli public radio said the talks were expected to touch on combating extreme Islamist groups, Iran's nuclear programme and Russian arms sales to Damascus and Tehran.
