A list of Moscow holiday events for the kids and families looking to celebrate Christmas this weekend or kick start the Russian holiday season early.

Looking for a holiday event for kids in Moscow? There are dozens of evens in this big city, but here is a short list of places offering children chirch servives, performances on ice and many other children activities:

Christmas church service for kids
Children’s Service at the Crib, St Andrew’s Church will be held on Christmas Eve, Friday, 24 December at 16.00
(with a family service also on Saturday 25 December at 11.00).

Ice skating with British Women’s Club Family Network
A weekly gathering event for families, but to add a bit of holiday flare join in on the current Sunday ice skating group runs throughout the winter.

Snow Queen on Ice, Luzhniki
Snow Queen takes the famous story by Hans Christian Andersen and turns it into an ice musical that can easily be understood by kids (with music from classics like Tchaikovsky and Grieg). Runs until Sunday 9 January.

Fairytale of Stolen Time at the Nikulin Circus
Nikulin Circus is full of entertaining events for the holidays, from clowns to trapeze programmes. Runs until Monday 10 January.

The Little Mermaid and the Pirate Treasure, Olympiysky Swimming Complex
This fun and classic sea tale runs at this large, indoor arena from Friday 24 December to Sunday 9 January.

Seasons Christmas Fair, Hermitage Gardens
During the days of Saturday 25 December and Sunday 26 December this popular recreation park will host a Christmas Fair with an assortment of fun activities, arts and crafts stands and more.

Alice in Wonderland on Ice, CSKA Ice Complex
From Sunday 2 January to Monday 4 January this indoor arena will be holding ice skating performances of the adventurous tale of this mischevious little girl.

Open Workshops for children at the Garage Center of Contemporary Art
"Garage Kids is a series of free activities, events and trails where children can engage with their world through the eyes of an artist to inspire their own creativity and understanding of art." Open for the New Year public holiday period.
