Formula One: Petrov in black out of respect for crash victims
Russia's Renault driver Vitaly Petrov will wear a black helmet this weekend at the Italian Grand Prix - his personal mark of respect for the victims of a plane crash earlier this week in Russia.
In the accident on Wednesday, when a Yak-42 plane crashed soon after take-off from Yaroslavl, 43 people died, including nearly all of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl ice-hockey team.
"I want to offer my greatest condolences to all the families and friends of victims of this awful catastrophe," said 27-year-old Petrov.
"It doesn't matter which team you support, the whole of Russia is shocked by what has happened."
Petrov is presently ninth in the championship with 34 points, his best result coming in the opening race of the season the Australian Grand Prix where he finished third.
