Formal indictment unsealed against Russian 'agents'
A formal indictment was unsealed Wednesday in a New York federal court against 11 people forming an alleged Russian ring of secret agents.
The indictment did not change the charges already filed against the group, which is accused of acting as unregistered foreign agents and laundering money.
All 11 are accused of "conspiring to act as secret agents in the United States on behalf of the Russian Federation and nine of these individuals with conspiracy to commit money laundering."
Ten of the defendants were arrested in US cities last month and one is at large after jumping bail in Cyprus.
The indictment was described as being a step in the process of moving all the defendants to face justice at a federal court in New York.
