Eight missing after ship sinks in Black Sea: official

Eight seamen were missing Monday after their Mongolian-flagged ship sank carrying a cargo of metal sank in the Black Sea off the town of Kerch in Ukraine, officials said.

A spokesman for the Ukrainian emergencies ministry told AFP that four seamen out of a Russian and Ukrainain crew of 12 had been saved and emergency services were working at the scene to find more survivors.

The ship -- the "Vassily" -- gave a distress signal at 4:38 local time (0138 GMT).
