Damage from Gulf of Mexico oil spill estimated at 5 billion

Russian researchers have urged that conclusions should be drawn from the ecological disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, the biggest in recent years. A similar disaster could strike during shelf oil production in the Arctic, the Sea of Okhotsk and Western Kamchatka, a senior World Wildlife Foundation official Yevgeny Schwarz warned in an interview with the Voice of Russia.
