An explosion in a shopping centre in the Russian Urals city of Ufa injured at least three people and sparked a fire in the mall on Saturday, Russian news agencies reported, quoting local officials.

Sixty firemen were sent to the scene along with ambulances, and the mall was being evacuated, the reports said.

The RIA-Novosti agency quoted witnesses as saying they had heard an explosion about 1230 GMT and a fire started soon afterwards.
