Attacks on army, police in Baghdad leave 26 dead

Six army and police checkpoints were attacked in Baghdad on Monday, leaving 26 people dead, a spokesman for Iraq’s Interior Ministry said adding that the attackers used gun silencers. Eyewitnesses say the militants fired at officers and policemen while driving by, and after that promptly left the scene.
