Storm pummels Portugal airport, delays flights
A freak storm caused damage and delayed flights on Monday at Faro airport, the main transport hub in the Algare tourist hub of southern Portugal, aviation officials said.
Five people were injured after the storm tore off part of the roof in the check-in section of the airport overnight. One of the victims was taken to hospital, the Lusa news agency reported.
While flights did resume in late morning hundreds of passengers were still facing delays of up to four hours.
Around five million passangers use the airport each year, according to the latest official figures.
