Pilots at Portugal's TAP to strike from Friday
Portuguese carrier TAP said it was bracing for major disruption to flights from Friday because of a strike by pilots seeking better conditions and a say in the airline's privatisation.
"The impact of the strike will certainly be very major," a company spokesman told AFP on Wednesday.
The pilots' union SPAC said it is planning a strike from December 9-12 and again from January 3 to 6 to demand "fair treatment" and to seek a role in the process of privatising TAP.
The planned selloff is part of a seven billion euro ($9.4 billion) privatisation programme which was a key element of a 78-billion-euro bailout agreed in May with the European Union and International Monetary Fund.
