Maastricht | 14/05/2009 - 14/06/2009 Jordaens – The Making of a Masterpiece :

Exhibition presenting the Flemish Baroque painter Jacob Jordaens’ (1593-1678) monumental masterpiece ‘The tribute money: Peter finding the silver coin in the mouth of the fish from ca. 1623’, and a smaller version together with some other paintings and drawings from the same period. The monumental painting has been in the Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen since 1912, where it has undergone extensive technical research and been fully restored. The second, considerably smaller version of the painting from the collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam was presumed a copy of the larger painting, but technical research has shown that the relationship between the two paintings is much more complex than was previously assumed.
