4.5-magnitude quake on Netherlands-Germany border

A 4.5-magnitude earthquake late Thursday hit the Nijmegen region in the eastern Netherlands on the border with Germany, without causing any damage, Dutch authorities said.

The epicentre of the quake that struck at 9:02 pm (1902 GMT) was at Xanten, in the west of Germany, according to information published on the website of the Dutch meteorology and seismology services (KNMI).

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, a police spokesman in Nijmegen told AFP.
