COEVORDEN – Thirty silver coins dating from the 15th century have been discovered during excavations in the centre of the eastern Dutch town of Coevorden.
The coins were minted between 1380 and 1425 in Groningen, Deventer, Arnhem, Ghent and Aachen. Archaeologists assume they were the property of a travelling salesman.
The silver coins will first be put on display at Coevorden Castle before being handed over to the province of Drenthe.
