Dutch official unemployment rate at 5.9% in March

The Dutch unemployment rate reached 5.9 percent in March, the same level as in February, seasonally corrected data released on Thursday by the national statistics office CBS showed.
The final figure for February was revised lower from an initial estimate of 6.0 percent, and confirmed that the Netherlands has one of the lowest levels of unemployment in the 17-nation eurozone, along with Austria.
In March, the number of unemployed in the Netherlands grew by 2,000 to 465,000 in a country with a total population of a little more than 16.5 million people, the CBS data showed.
Unemployment is nonetheless much stronger among youths aged 15-24, because the rate in March stood at 11.8 percent, up from 9.2 percent in March 2011.
