THE HAGUE – Ten Dutch young people between the ages of 19 and 25 will be accompanying Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Verhagen on his working visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories next week.

The five men and five women come from a variety of backgrounds: Jewish, Christian, Islamic, and non-religious. They will be reporting their impressions to the minister during the visit.

During the trip the young people will meet with peers in the Middle East. The minister is taking them along because the Israeli-Palestinian conflict not only influences international relations, but also relations within Dutch society.

Verhagen therefore thinks it important that dialogue take place on all levels.
