AMSTERDAM – The infamous Amsterdam sex club Yab Yum must shut its doors after all, the administrative judge in Amsterdam ruled on Friday.
The judge says that it would be in the municipality's best interest that the brothel's permits be revoked. Amsterdam recently decided to order the club be shut down after a negative recommendation from the Bibob bureau, which inspects whether businesses abuse permits to cover for criminal activities. The judge on Friday found that this report was well founded.
The municipality believes the club is actually in the hands of the Hell's Angels. The group reportedly took over the business in 1999 through extortion and threats. Hennie Vittali, the official owner, is allegedly just a pawn of the motorcycle club.
Yab Yum went to court last month to fight the decision to close the club. Lawyer Rob IJsendijk said the allegations against the club were "suspicions and assumptions without any actual basis whatsoever."
