Dutch Antillean woman arrested at Amsterdam Schipol for smuggling cocaine into the Netherlands in her baby’s nappy.

Amsterdam – A woman from the Netherlands Antilles has been arrested at Amsterdam Schipol Airport for attempting to smuggle cocaine into the country in her baby’s nappy.

The woman, who arrived on a flight from the Dutch island of Curaçao, was carrying more than a kilogram of cocaine in total. Most of the cocaine was concealed inside her own body – wrapped in condoms and swallowed – but part was hidden in the nappy of her two-year-old daughter.

Customs officers say it is the first time they have ever caught anyone trying to smuggle drugs in this way.
Last week, a man from Surinam was arrested at Schiphol Airport with a record quantity of cocaine in his stomach. He had swallowed a total of 182 cocaine-filled condoms, weighing 2.2 kilograms in total. He shares the weight record with a man picked up earlier this year, who had swallowed 218 smaller packages.
