Woman expecting first child at age 63
A 63-year-old woman from Harlingen will welcome her first child next month thanks to successful IVF treatments.
The woman underwent fertility treatments last summer at an Italian clinic, reports Friesland’s Courant Leeuwarder newspaper on Monday.
The woman is single and has refused to explain her pregnancy, saying only that “it’s a private matter”. She is expected to speak to the press after the child’s birth.
While the pregnancy is notable in the Netherlands, she will not be the oldest woman to give birth. That title belongs to India’s Rajo Devi Lohan, who delivered a daughter in 2008 at the age of 70.http://cdn.radionetherlands.nl/data/files/baby_feet_0.jpg
