AMSTERDAM — A prosecutor asked a court in Utrecht to impose a 12-month sentence and compulsory TBS therapy on a woman, 50, who helped her boyfriend sexually abuse her four underage daughters.

The court heard the mother and the children moved into the man's home in Woerden at the end of the 1990s. The woman was heavily influenced by the man, now aged 74, who was described as a "magnetizer". He was jailed for four years in February this year for molesting the girls.

The prosecutor said the statements made by the victims indicated the abuse could not have taken place without the cooperation of their mother.

Experts have been seeking to devise a treatment for the woman who is judged not to be fully legally accountable for her actions in this case. Stemming from her psychiatric problems, she has already refused to cooperate with a more conditional form of TBS psychiatric and behavioural therapy, her lawyer said.
